Chris founded Local Form Studio to advance his mission to help clients create urban places of meaning, vitality, and legacy.

Christopher Riale, AICP is a leading planner and urban designer based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and Founder and Principal of Local Form Studio. Following years of experience in land planning, urban design, project management, and practice leadership roles with Arup, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), and WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Chris founded Local Form Studio to advance his mission to help clients create urban places of meaning, vitality, and legacy.

He has overseen, led, and delivered over 100 projects across the United States. Having lived and practiced in major American cities such as Boston, Providence, Chicago, and New York City, he has worked on some of the country’s most significant development and transportation infrastructure projects for public sector agencies and private land developers. Through this project experience he has gained extensive expertise in visioning, master planning, urban design, transit-oriented development, development guidelines, and zoning controls.

Chris is an AICP certified planner, a Fellow of the Urban Design Forum, and maintains a regular presence at industry engagement events, expert panels, and juries at various professional associations and academic institutions, including the American Planning Association, Urban Land Institute, NY Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute, and Rutgers and Columbia Universities.
