CSX East-West Corridor
Transit-Oriented Development Plan
Miami, FL

The CSX East-West Corridor TOD Plan evaluates the placemaking and economic development potential of transforming a former CSX freight corridor into a passenger rail corridor serving Miami, Sweetwater, and Doral.

The CSX East-West Corridor TOD Master Plan evaluates the placemaking and economic development potential of transforming a former CSX freight corridor into a passenger rail corridor serving Miami, Sweetwater, and Doral. The corridor is currently underserved by transit and this master plan envisions a sustainable and transit-connected community that redirects westward urban expansion east, away from the Everglades.

The vision plans illustrate potential transportation programs, development type and density, and public amenities appropriate for each of the proposed stations.

As a result of this planning process, the Miami-Dade  Metropolitan Planning Organization will determine whether the investment from development could support passenger rail operations on the former CSX freight corridor.

Role
Local Form Studio’s Christopher Riale directed the urban design, master planning, and TOD evaluation, which included an analysis of current and future land use, building massing and volumetric analysis, inventory of vacant land, development opportunities, and the vision for  four station areas.

* Work completed by Christopher Riale while employed with WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.
